It could have been perfect

Coming from a 20" wide Neoair that's 15 years old, I wanted a bit more comfort while not taking the Sea to Summit weight penalty. The Sea to Summit wins all the reviews but too many fail early. Their Lifetime Warranty takes care of that, but it is an ongoing hassle. So, the next best choice is the XLite NXT. Took me a night to dial in the correct firmness, but the wide 25" over the 20" was immediately obvious. Once I watched a quick vid I understood the new valve, and you then wonder why it took so long to get a one-way valve sorted on Neoair pads. Anyway. There are only two things wrong with this pad: the price, and the pump sack. The pump sack is too heavy, too inflexible, the wrong shape, too small, and the fitting's lid (why do we even need one?) is too hard to open up/close. Sure, it's the Max Wide. But it took too long. My S2S one would have done it in half the time with half the weight and a third more volume. The pump sack is an afterthought that got no respect from its designers. They try and get the pad down to the lightest and then they pretty much just add a heavy plastic pump sack. Such an odd failure from a company that's otherwise so good. Anyway - I've got the insulation, width, and weight all sorted - happy tr/camper.
